Apple issues an emergency update to close a critical security vulnerability

Apple has issued an urgent security update for iPhone and iPad devices to address a serious vulnerability that could allow attackers to implement malware via files specifically designed for this purpose, calling on users to quickly install it.

The new security update carries the number (iOS 26.7.1), and it is intended for iPhone 11 phones and newer models that run old versions of the system. The seriousness of the vulnerability lies in its direct impact on the “CoreGraphics” component, which is responsible for processing and displaying images and graphics on devices.

Apple explained that the vulnerability had been monitored to potentially be exploited in a “highly sophisticated attack targeting specific individuals,” without providing further details. This is a method that often indicates the possibility of using spyware to monitor devices and collect data from them.

For tablet users, the company issued a simultaneous update (iPadOS 26.7.1) that includes a number of iPad models, most notably: the iPad Pro (11- and 12.9-inch), the iPad Air (3rd generation and later), the regular iPad (8th generation and later), as well as the iPad Mini (5th generation and later).

To complete the update process safely, the company recommended that users take a backup copy of the data, connect the device to the charger, and connect to a reliable wireless Internet network (Wi-Fi), then go to “Settings,” then “General,” then “Software Update,” and choose “Download and Install” or “Update Now.”

In a related context, “Apple” launched in a separate update the iOS 27.0.1 system for the “iPhone 18 Pro” and “iPhone 18 Pro Max” phones, to address several software problems that had recently appeared. The most notable of these is a bug that causes the phone to automatically restart when the facial recognition system (Face ID) fails to verify the identity, and a problem with the camera that leads to unnatural colors appearing when using the zoom (twice the zoom) in certain lighting conditions, in addition to fixing a bug that causes the touch screen to stop responding when the “Notification Center” and “Control Center” are opened simultaneously.
