Between digital seduction and lack of financial literacy: Do young people risk their money in virtual markets?

In light of the rapid development of financial markets and the ease of access by young people through digital platforms, financial culture has become an essential foundation for making informed decisions away from randomness. In this context, the CFI Group affirms its commitment to enhancing financial awareness for the new generation through university partnerships and practical programs, through to its digital platform “CFI Academy”.

In an interview with George Khoury, Global Head of Research and Education at CFI Financial Group and a Chartered Financial Analyst, he explains that financial literacy is no longer a luxury, but rather an absolute necessity for every individual who deals daily with economic variables and financial markets. Khoury points out that the gap between university education and financial reality lies in the difficulty of linking theories to the movement of actual markets and understanding risk management, which is what the company seeks to address through its educational tours in prominent Lebanese universities such as the American University of Beirut, the Lebanese American University in Byblos, and the Antonine University, in addition to specialized training programs and simulation competitions via demo accounts.

Khoury stressed that “CFI Academy” provides young people with flexible learning that includes the basics of markets, analysis, and trading psychology. He concluded by emphasizing that the ultimate goal is to build a conscious and responsible generation, advising young people of the need to begin learning, acquiring knowledge and discipline before embarking on any actual trading.
