On Wednesday, Samsung announced its latest tablet computers in the “Galaxy Tab” series, the “Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra” and “Galaxy Tab S12 Plus” models, with advanced technical specifications and an ultra-thin design.
The “Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra” is the largest version, as it comes with a 14.6-inch “Dynamic AMOLED 2X” screen, with a resolution of 2,800 x 1,752 pixels, and a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz. Samsung has succeeded in reducing the thickness of the device to only 5.1 millimeters, making it the thinnest tablet it has launched in this category so far, with a weight of 692 grams for the “Wi-Fi” version and 695 grams for the “5G” version.
In contrast, the “Galaxy Tab S12+” model comes with a 12.6-inch “Dynamic AMOLED 2X” screen, with a resolution of 2,960 x 1,848 pixels, and a refresh rate of 120 Hz. The thickness of this device is 5.3 millimeters, with a weight ranging between 553 and 555 grams, depending on the communication version. According to the company, the screens of the two devices reach a maximum brightness of 1,600 nits, and 1,000 nits in high brightness mode.
Regarding performance and storage capacities, the “Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra” provides up to 16 GB of random access memory (RAM) and an internal storage capacity of up to 1 TB. As for the smaller model (Galaxy Tab S12+), it comes with a RAM of up to 12 GB and a storage capacity of up to 512 GB. Both devices support the ability to expand the internal storage space via microSD cards with a capacity of up to 2 TB.
Samsung provided the “Ultra” device with a battery capacity of 11,600 mAh, which provides about 23 hours of continuous use, while the battery capacity of the “Plus” version was about 10,600 mAh, for a period of up to 21 hours. Both devices support 45W fast charging, which takes about 95 minutes to fully charge the battery using a compatible charger.
In terms of connectivity and photography, the “Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra” supports “Wi-Fi 7” technology and includes two 13- and 8-megapixel rear cameras, while the “Galaxy Tab S12+” model is limited to supporting “Wi-Fi 6E” and one 13-megapixel rear camera. The two devices share support for “Bluetooth 6.0” technology, “5G” versions that support “nano-SIM” and “eSIM” cards, along with four speakers, an “IP68” standard for water and dust resistance, and a fingerprint sensor built into the screen, with an “S Pen” stylus attached to the two devices.
In conclusion, the company announced that the official prices start from $1,199 for the “Galaxy Tab S12+” model, and from $1,399 for the “Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra” model in the American market.
