The Afghan Ministry of Defense announced, on Sunday, the killing of 28 militants and the wounding of 32 others, following clashes that broke out in the Nuristan province in the east of the country, following the infiltration of an armed group across the border from Pakistan, which Kabul described as belonging to ISIS.
The Ministry explained that the Afghan forces dealt firmly with the armed group as soon as they crossed Pakistani territory into Nuristan Province, resulting in the announced death toll and injuries.
The Afghan Ministry of Defense accused Pakistani parties of providing support to the militants, noting that the majority of the members of that group are former members of the government security services in Afghanistan.
On the other hand, the Pakistani Ministry of Information issued a categorical denial of Kabul’s accusations, confirming that the allegations that Pakistani forces or its intelligence services provided any support to militants in Nuristan were incorrect, and also rejected the accusations related to the training of former Afghan security personnel.
