Casio launched its new watches, “GST-B1000-1A” and “GST-B1000-2A,” as part of the “G-Steel” collection in the American market, at a price of $385 each, after previously launching them in the Japanese market at a price of 60,500 yen, and then in the British market.
The new versions feature a design that is about half lighter than the previous model, “GST-B1000D.” The company replaced the steel bracelet with another made of bio-urethane, which contributed to reducing the total weight of the watch from 118 grams to only 58 grams, to provide a less expensive option of about $55 compared to the steel bracelet version.
The two watches rely on a “Carbon Core Guard” chassis with dimensions of 46.9 x 44.2 x 11.6 mm, which includes a biocarbon core protected by a stainless steel upper frame, mineral glass, and a sealed screw-down crown. The “GST-B1000-1A” model comes with a black dial, while the “GST-B1000-2A” model features a metallic blue dial, equipped with a prominent horizontal engraving, a date display window, and a 24-hour sub-dial.
On the technical side, the two watches operate with the “Tough Solar” solar charging system, and support communication with smartphones via Bluetooth technology to ensure accurate and automatic time setting. They are also water-resistant to a depth of 200 metres, with features including a stopwatch, countdown timer, alarm, and bright “Super Illuminator” LED lighting.
A full charge of the two watches is enough to operate them for five months under normal use conditions, and the period increases to 18 months when kept in the dark with the power saving mode activated. The new versions are currently available for direct order through the official Casio website, along with previous models.
