Meta conducted a practical trial of its upcoming new smart assistant, “Muse,” which is designed to perform a wide range of complex tasks on behalf of users, including sending emails, reserving tables in restaurants and flights, as well as making phone calls.
Reuters revealed that during this experiment, Meta tested an internal service known as the “Human Assistant,” where it used human contractors to make calls on behalf of the smart assistant, when the user asked it to communicate directly with companies or stores.
The “Muse” assistant was primarily designed to handle several telephone tasks, such as booking appointments, inquiring about product availability, and negotiating with service providers. However, practical tests have proven that some calls have higher success rates when the human element intervenes in their implementation.
Internal test results showed that calls made by real people achieved exceptional success rates, ranging between 95% and 98%.
