Lebanese Investment Portal: Syrian airports open their doors to Washington and the business sector with promising opportunities

The head of the Civil Aviation Authority in Syria, Omar Al-Husri, confirmed that the Lebanese-Syrian Investment Conference is of great importance in attracting Lebanese investors to the Syrian market and opening new horizons for economic cooperation between the two countries, on the sidelines of the conference’s activities and in an exclusive interview with the “Lebanon Debate” website.

Al-Husri explained that bilateral relations are going through a qualitative transformation phase towards enhancing joint cooperation, noting that the conference represents a platform that allows businessmen and investors from both sides to learn about available opportunities and discuss the possibilities of establishing effective investment partnerships.

In the transport and air cargo sector, Al-Husri pointed out that there are promising opportunities for the private sector to invest in airport infrastructure, indicating that there are major projects on offer, most notably projects related to Damascus and Aleppo international airports, with the opportunity to participate in their management and implementation.

He explained that the current trend is based on giving the private sector a greater role in project management to benefit from its expertise and ability to speed up implementation, while the state maintains its primary role in establishing legal and regulatory frameworks and exercising the necessary oversight to ensure the smooth progress of work.

Al-Hosary concluded by stressing that the aviation sector constitutes a sector that strategically attracts new investments, considering that the Lebanese-Syrian Investment Conference represents a real opportunity to introduce these capabilities and build direct communication channels that serve the path of partnership between the public and private sectors in the next stage.
