Apple has abandoned its plans to develop a smart stylus for its upcoming iPhone Duo, after the prototype collided with technical obstacles that prevented it from entering the widespread commercial production phase, according to a report published by Bloomberg.
The phone’s development roadmap included providing full support for the Apple Pencil, as the device was designed to fit this feature. At the beginning of the project, Apple intended to create a miniature version of the pen that could be installed on the side of the device’s hinge.
However, technical complications forced the company to abandon this design and move towards studying the possibility of supporting the traditional Apple Pencil equipped with a USB-C port.
Despite this new trend, the pen support feature will not be available at the official launch of the iPhone Duo, as the company continues its programming efforts and conducts extensive tests to ensure full integration between the device and the pen.
According to the report, it is expected that the Apple Pencil support feature will be ready for use by the end of this year, once the necessary software tests and modifications are completed.
