A software vulnerability granted "Apple" The advantage of circumventing the air cargo ban

Recent technical reports revealed that Apple resorted to an innovative software trick to bypass international air shipping restrictions imposed on its upcoming phone, the iPhone 18 Pro Max, against the backdrop of its battery capacity exceeding the maximum permitted for transporting electronic devices by air.

The report issued by the GSMArena website explained that the regulations and laws regulating international shipping require that the capacity of battery cells not exceed 20 watt-hours (Wh).

To address this challenge, Apple has set a software restriction that factory-limits the battery charge to remain below the permissible limit throughout an air transport flight. This software restriction will be automatically removed as soon as the user turns on the phone for the first time, so that he can benefit from the full capacity of the battery, which is 21.75 watt-hours (Wh).
