Apple farmers in the “Lebanese Inventory region” are living in a state of anxiety and confusion regarding the disposal of their crops, which recorded great success and abundant production this year, amid a race against time to remedy the crisis as the second half of September enters.
Farmers are working hard to communicate with representatives of their regions and districts to discuss ways to find quick solutions to save the season, especially opening ports for export abroad, in light of the unusual absence of major merchants who annually “guarantee” orchards and crops for shipment to foreign markets.
An agricultural source revealed that failure to discharge production will inflict heavy financial losses on farmers and all workers in the production chain estimated at tens of millions of dollars, stressing that farmers are preparing to carry out field movements and protests if the stagnation in discharge movement continues and urgent rescue steps are not taken.
