The study, prepared by AVILOO, is based on data from used electric cars that underwent the AVILOO FLASH Test, which uses trained models to calculate the battery health level.
The study measures the average state of battery health (State of Health) for each model at three main distances: 50,000 km, 100,000 km, and 150,000 km, in addition to determining the state range expected to include 99% of cars at each stage.
The results of the study indicate that electric car batteries deteriorate at a slower rate than some common concerns about their speed of deterioration suggest, but the data, in contrast, reveal significant differences in the life of batteries between models, and even between cars of the same model.
AVILOO CEO Markus Berger said that averages may hide important differences, explaining that a difference in battery health by between 10 and 15% can be directly reflected in the driving range of the car, its market value, and the extent of its reliability.
He added that knowing the actual location of a specific car battery within this range cannot be done accurately without conducting an independent test.
AVILOO intends to publish its approved report on electric car batteries twice a year, with the aim of providing an independent and global picture of the performance of batteries in used cars, for the benefit of buyers, fleets, insurance companies and other parties in the market.
