Today, Wednesday, Acer revealed a new concept for a portable device that combines a gaming platform and a small computer, during the IFA 2026 exhibition in Berlin.
The device is called Project DualPlay Mini, and it features an 8-inch screen and an openable, rotating design that allows it to be transformed from a portable gaming device equipped with buttons and joysticks into a small computer that contains a physical, illuminated keyboard.
Acer says that the design allows the keyboard to be used in games that rely on traditional control, such as shooting games, while the device can be used in its portable mode in a manner similar to mobile gaming platforms.
The project is not limited to games, as the device can connect to an external screen and use it to accomplish some daily tasks, in an attempt to combine the computer and the portable gaming platform in one device.
The model runs on an Intel processor and includes a cooling system with two fans, one of which is a metal Predator AeroBlade. But Acer confirmed that Project DualPlay Mini is still only an experimental model, and has not announced plans to put it up for sale or an official price for it yet.
