The new features provide a tool to track flight prices, inspired by the “Google Flights” service. The user can specify the destination he wants to travel to and the dates of the trip, and the artificial intelligence mode displays options from more than 300 airlines and travel sites.
After activating the price tracking feature, Google sends email notifications when there are changes in flight prices for the specified destination and dates. The company explained that the feature is now available in all regions and languages where “AI Mode” is available, with the exception of countries and territories affiliated with the European Economic Area.
Users around the world can now use artificial intelligence to find out the cost of flights or hotels using miles and points. After specifying the destination and travel time, you can know the cost of the airline ticket in miles, or view hotel prices using reward points.
In its first phase, the feature supports the rewards programs of Alaska Airlines/Hawaiian Airlines and American Airlines, along with Choice Hotels International, Hilton, and Wyndham Hotels & Resorts. Google intends to add support for Accor, Flying Blue, Hyatt, LATAM Airlines, and Lufthansa Group in the coming period.
The new features are not limited to searching for hotels, as Google also allows users to book accommodation directly via “AI Mode”. After entering trip details and preferences, the system displays hotel options, guest ratings and opinions, with the ability to complete the reservation using “Google Pay.”
Google will begin making the hotel reservation feature available in the United States in English, in cooperation with a group of booking sites and companies, including Expedia, Marriott International, and Priceline, and will expand the scope of the feature in the coming weeks.
Through these features, Google seeks to transform the placement of artificial intelligence in the search engine from a tool for answering questions to an integrated assistant for travel planning, starting with searching for flights and comparing prices, through monitoring their changes, all the way to booking hotels.
