He pointed to the negative repercussions of the absence of the commission, stressing that the Lebanese felt the deterioration of services and the chaos of the sector and Lebanon left behind to match global progress in digital programs and applications. He said: “The commission will play a pivotal role in organizing the market, licensing for service providers, promoting competition, protecting consumer rights, and ensuring quality of service.”
Al -Hajj also stressed the expansion of Internet services using optical fibers, wireless communications and satellites, and linking Lebanon to the world via a new marine cable and a new ground. He concluded with his full support for the president of the commission and members, stressing the ministry’s keenness to independence and options for the digital future of Lebanon.
For her part, the President of the Commission thanked Jenny Gemayel, President of the Republic, the Prime Minister, the Minister and the Council of Ministers, for confidence, stressing that their mission is to reform and modernize the telecommunications sector and put the citizen in the top priority, with a full commitment to transparency, professionalism and the rule of law.
Al -Gemayel emphasized that the authority will adopt a clear action plan with measurable goals, and it will issue periodic reports to ensure accountability in front of public opinion, with the aim of making Lebanon an attractive center for investment in technology and fair and balanced digital services for all regions.
