US President Donald Trump is preparing to visit Israel, his first since taking office in 2025, after his last visit was during his first term in 2027. The visit is scheduled to last only hours, but it includes important meetings and political and humanitarian events.
According to the White House, the presidential plane will take off from Washington on Sunday evening, and will land in Tel Aviv on Monday morning at 9:20 local time, where Trump will go directly to Jerusalem to meet with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and a number of senior Israeli ministers and officials.
The talks focus on consolidating the recent truce in Gaza, discussing the next steps for exchanging prisoners and resuming political negotiations, in addition to coordinating positions before the scheduled summit in Cairo with the participation of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi. Trump will also meet with the families of Israelis detained or missing in Gaza, in a move aimed at showing American support for humanitarian efforts.
At the conclusion of his visit, Trump will deliver a speech before the Israeli Knesset, the first by an American president in more than 10 years, in which he highlights the American-Israeli alliance and Washington’s role in strengthening regional security, while praising the Egyptian role in reaching a ceasefire agreement.
Trump is scheduled to later go to Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt, to participate in a truce celebration ceremony, as part of a Middle East peace summit in the presence of President Sisi and Arab and European leaders, before returning to Washington later on Monday. (Arabic)
