The Minister of the Displaced and Minister of State for Technology and Artificial Intelligence Affairs, Dr. Kamal Shehadeh, received, in his office in Beirut, the digital city of resident and the United Nations Humanitarian Coordinator in Lebanon, Imran Riza, accompanied by United Nations Development Coordination Officer Christine Najjar and the special assistant for the resident coordinator, Pierre Daher, in the presence of the Project Director at the Ministry of State for Technology MiGal Jaridi.
During the meeting, the current projects that the ministry is working on, including joint projects in cooperation with a number of relevant ministries, was presented within the framework of the digital transformation plan aimed at enhancing the efficiency of public administrations and modernizing the state’s digital infrastructure. Also, the potential for cooperation between the Ministry of State for Technology and Artificial Intelligence and the United Nations in Lebanon, especially with regard to supporting the implementation of national plans for digital transformation, and developing institutional capabilities And humanity, and the expansion of the use of artificial intelligence techniques in government work. Then Shehadeh received a delegation from Forward MENA headed by Mohamed Rabah, in the presence of Amal Obaid from the UNICEF, and Angela Al -Zeer from the World Bank. During the meeting, the goals of the Forward Mena aimed at empowering individuals from various backgrounds by developing their skills to meet the needs of the current and future digital labor market, in addition to cooperation Existing with the World Bank Group within the framework of the “Skilling Up Mashreq” initiative (SUM) that is implemented in Lebanon. Also, ways of joint cooperation between the ministry and the organization in the field of developing digital skills, supporting innovative educational programs, and building the capabilities of youth and employees in the public sector, especially in the fields of technology, design, and leadership. She also received Shehadeh, CEO of Valorers, Naama Touq, Ways were discussed in enhancing cooperation on strategic projects under implementation in the ministries of Justice, Finance and Interior, in addition to three new projects aimed at consolidating artificial intelligence as a basic pillar in building the modern Lebanese state.
