Snap announced the introduction of new storage plans for “Memories Memories” in the “Snapchat” application, after users recorded more than one trillion memory since the launch of the service in 2016.

According to an official statement, the company will start imposing a 5 GB of free storage, while users who go beyond this will be able to subscribe to additional storage packages.

The rented plans include:

– 100 GB for two dollars per month.
For subscribers +Snapchat (subscription of 4 dollars per month): a capacity of up to 250 GB.
For Platinum Packagers (16 dollars per month): a storage capacity of up to 5 TB.

The company confirmed that the “vast majority” of the application users will not face any change; Most of them do not approach the declared limit.

As for users who keep thousands of shots, they will get a full year of temporary storage to facilitate the transition to paid plans.

This trend comes after the company launched its newly lend hired service, and it provides additional benefits for $ 9 per month, which reflects the Snap strategy in strengthening its revenues through subscriptions.

This step is seen as part of a broader shift in the social applications sector, as companies are heading towards providing free basic services with the addition of advanced storage advantages or tools in the framework of paid bouquets.

These steps are expected to enhance users’ loyalty to the application, especially those who depend on “Snapchat” as a basic platform for documenting their daily lives, rather than using external services to store images and videos.
