The Environmental Committee of the Municipal Council of the city of Sidon held its periodic meeting headed by council member Youssef Tohme and the presence of members Ghani Wehbe, Amani Abu Zainab and Eng. Nour Qalbali, Eng. Ahmed Hegazy, Abdel Karim Alamawi and Engineer Mohamed Al -Baba.
According to a statement, the meeting agreed on “the importance of cooperation with the ministries, environmental societies and the civil society to protect the city’s resources and ensure the sustainability of environmental projects, and in practice, the implementation of a field visit in coordination with the South Lebanon Water Corporation to the refining factory and the lifting stations to evaluate faults and suggest sustainable solutions, including studying the possibility of solar energy to improve performance.” According to the statement, “The emissions, waste and environmental police files were discussed, and the importance of controlling environmental violations and enhancing control over marine fishing was discussed, in addition to following up the waste sorting project in schools and organizing visits to the sorting laboratories in the region.
