Kabyar Murad wrote in “Calling of the Homeland”: At every historical turn or an accurate stage, the Maronite Patriarchate moves. The risks are close to the mentality of the “mother of the boy” keen on the Lebanese entity, its stability, its permanence, and its prosperity. From this background, the movement of the Maronite Episcopal Committee for the National Affairs, which includes Bishop Paul Matar, the patron of the Batroun Diocese Munir Khairallah and the sponsor of the diocese of Antolias Antoine Bou Najm, and the patron of the diocese of Australia Antoine Charbel Taraby.
The formation of the committee dates back to more than a year, in conjunction with the outbreak of the Israeli Adwan on Lebanon. The developments that took place, prompted the Maronite Patriarchate to freeze its work, without giving up its goals. In recent days, the committee has returned to move, with the doors of Ma’arab, Al -Saifi and Nasheeh, to complete its meetings in the coming days, under the title “Christian and National Reconciliation”, without limiting itself with a time limit to achieving this.
While the committee members insist on keeping their discussions far from the media, the information stated that the episcopal movement is a bet in an exploratory stage to develop ideas and reach a work methodology for national and Christian topics.
It is thus separating the paths between Christian reconciliation and national reconciliation, because each file has its privacy and approaches. Therefore, it calls for overcoming the past without forgetting it, and not resorting to tension, street and violent debates. And if the Christian house needs constant fortification, the national level requires restoration. The bishops have heard from some of their meeting that “there is no reconciliation between a defenseless team and a team that owns weapons, because this step turns into imposition and surrender. Therefore, the issue of exclusive weapons is the state’s hand constitutes a natural entrance for everyone’s return to equality in the state. It is certain that the ecclesiastical movement will continue. And reaches what was interrupted.
