Zahle Municipality, in cooperation with the Zahle Electricity Company, announced the rehabilitation of the city entrance, specifically the fountains of the round lake, which stopped working 27 years ago.
The Director General of Zahle Electricity Company, Eng. Asaad Nakhd and the mayor, Eng. Salim Ghazaleh, supervised the launch of the project that aims to restore life to this main landmark.
This cooperation emphasizes the importance of the public and private partnerships in achieving local development.
Not only did the fountain restart, but also included beautifying the surrounding area, as the round with rice trees that symbolize the Lebanese identity was decorated, and its surroundings were replaced in bright green.
Also, olive trees were covered at my hanging entrance and the neighborhood of the lady, in a symbolic reference to peace.
To ensure public safety and ease of traffic at night, the round is provided with solar powered lamps, ensuring the continuity of lighting and providing energy at the same time.
Engineer Asaad Nakad stressed the necessity of cooperation and supporting the municipality in its development projects, noting the person of its president, the humble man who receives all citizens with comfort as well as members of the council.
Nahd called the Zahli community to stand by the municipality that works for development away from politics.
He concluded, stressing that this symbolic work is evidence that Zahle is able to be one of the most beautiful cities in Lebanon because it enjoys the presence of water and electricity and has all the youth capabilities and energies.
In turn, Ghazala expressed his happiness with this achievement, stressing that he carries a “symbolic and civilized dimension”, noting that this project aims to restore consideration to the public squares in the city, and that it is a first step that will be followed by other initiatives that reflect the municipality’s ambition to make Zahle “more beautiful and prosperous.”
