
The media office of the Lebanese Communist Party condemned in the strongest statements the statements of the American delegate Tom Brak during his press conference in the Republican Palace, in which he described the Lebanese journalists in a way that the party considered “insulting and unacceptable.”
In its statement, the party affirmed that this statement is not a passing slip, but an explicit expression of an arrogant colonial mentality that looks at Lebanon, its people and its press as tools to insult it and serve American interests. Al -Kamil with journalists, considering that media professionals are essential partners in revealing the truth and holding accountable officials, and demanded the Lebanese state to act immediately and take a clear position to defend the dignity of journalists and protect freedom of the word. He concluded by saying: “The free word will remain stronger than every guardianship, and the dignity of journalists is a red line that cannot be exceeded, and the resistance of colonialism and humiliation is an integral part of the battle of liberation, democracy and social justice.”
