
The Chairman of the Supreme Committee for the Syrian People’s Assembly elections, Muhammad Taha Al -Ahmad, announced that the elections will not take place in the provinces of As -Suwayda, Hasaka and Raqqa as a result of the security conditions in these areas.
In a statement to Sky News Arabia, Al -Ahmad clarified that the decision came for fear of voters and candidates to direct threats, stressing that the holding of elections in these governorates remains dependent on the return of the situation to normal.
