The head of the Lebanese National Orthodox Council, Robert Al -Abyad, said in a statement that “the bad situation in Lebanon drains the lives of citizens with a luminous and short of their age, and we do not see any radical solution soon … as if we are preparing to a new internal division or the return of the civil war, the state does not impose its full control on the ground and deter gangs and political and non -Lebanese political and military parties, and what we have heard from Palestinian officials. Delivery of the weapon is not convincing and incorrect. ”
He called for “leaving our sectarian concept and control over state institutions, the commitment of the state project, their constitution and laws, recognition of a civil, non -sectarian state, equality in rights and duties between all citizens of various sects and stressing exclusivity and exit from external, regional and sectarian links at the expense of the country and the citizen.” He stressed that “there is no salvation for Lebanon and the Lebanese people except through understanding and respecting the other.” He believed that “Lebanon today has an opportunity that will never be repeated through a new project that came through the election of a president for the republic and the discourse of a department, as it is the only project to save Lebanon and the Lebanese.”
