Israeli media revealed today, Friday, information related to the Israeli Saleh Abu Hussein, who was arrested in Lebanon during the month of July 2024 by the army intelligence in the Naqoura region – southern Lebanon.

In the context, the Israeli “Walla” website said that Abu Hussein approached the border between Lebanon and Israel and asked to obtain water after he entered Lebanon, and then the Lebanese army, who later handed him over to the Lebanese Public Security Agency for investigation.

Abu Hussein is a resident of the Bedouin village of Romana, near Nazareth, and his local council head said that his family was not aware of his presence in Lebanon at all, and was surprised by the matter after the Israeli authorities officially informed her of the news of his release.

The spokesman explained that no one knows so far how Abu Hussein has reached the Lebanese territories.
In turn, the “Yet” website said that “the Abu Hussein family reported its disappearance in July 2024, but it did not know that it was across the border,” claiming that “Abu Hussein is mentally ill, and resides in the village of Romana in Galilee, and he was working in Tel Aviv.”
Likewise, his relatives said that “during the last period, they were not aware of the presence of Abu Hussein in Lebanon,” noting that they do not know how he reached there.

According to the relatives’ account, the Israeli government worked to return it without informing them, and they did not discover the new details until after his release, which was a great surprise.

A source confirmed to the newspaper “Al -Sharq Al -Awsat” that Abu Hussein is not considered a prisoner of war, as it was not proven involved in any security activity inside Lebanon, and therefore the Red Cross was following his case with the Lebanese authorities, which contributed to the decision to release him.
The Israeli security authorities continue their investigations on how to arrive in Lebanon. At the same time, the security establishment confirmed that Israel is moving through various channels to ensure the release of Israeli citizens in similar circumstances, whether through indirect contacts or through international organizations.

For his part, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu welcomed his return, saying: “We congratulate the return of the Israeli citizen who was returned from Lebanon. (Russia today)
