In a new confirmation that the issue of using foreign forces in Lebanon has not yet moved from the research stage to the decision stage, an American official confirmed that the discussions are still in their beginnings, although there is “cautious optimism” among the participants about the possibility of progress on this path.
An American official told Al-Sharq Bloomberg that discussions regarding foreign forces in Lebanon are still in their early stages, and have not yet led to final results.
He added that participants in the discussions regarding future foreign forces in Lebanon are “cautiously optimistic” about the current path.
This comes at a time when the issue of foreign forces emerged within the discussions related to the mechanism for verifying the disarmament of Hezbollah. Reuters had reported on the proposal of Britain, Italy, Switzerland and Indonesia to participate in the mechanism, while Baabda sources denied to RED TV today that an agreement had been reached on these countries, stressing that the names proposed were still under discussion and there was no final agreement on them.
