The Lebanese National Orchestra (NYO-Lebanon), accompanied by a delegation from the Higher National Institute of Music-Conservatory includes members of the Board of Directors, administrators, musicians and the production and media team, headed by Dr. Heba Al-Qawas, to the Russian capital, Moscow, to officially represent Lebanon in one of the most important music festivals in the world, which is the “Russia World Youth Orchestra Festival” in its third session.
The festival will be held between 22 and 24 August 2025 under the auspices of the global maestro Yuri Bashmet, in cooperation with the “symphony orchestra for the general Russia for youth”, and with the participation of the most prominent youth orchestra from all over the world. The Lebanese National Orchestra participates in the opening ceremony through 41 Lebanese players and 20 Russian players led by Diana Goveman, who previously performed two concerts in Beirut at the invitation of Conservatory. Three Lebanese students were also chosen to join the “World Youth Symphony Orchestra” at the second big ceremony on August 22, in addition to their participation in the official opening ceremony. This participation comes, according to Al -Qawas, within the framework of “reviving and officially framing youth orchestra, making it a national turning point and a new vision to re -imagine music education and cultural diplomacy in Lebanon. For cultural Lebanon to the international scene, and embodying the role of youth in carrying the message of art and excellence. The roots of the youth orchestra will return to the initiative of the late Dr. Walid Ghulmiya, who established the project to allow the experience of the orchestral work for students despite the absence of infrastructure, before it stopped in 2019 to revive it later under the chairmanship of Al -Qawas. From Algeria, Serbia, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, in addition to the Arab Youth Symphony Orchestra. It also contributed to the formation of global orchestras such as the Commonwealth Orchestra (CIS) and the BRICS.
