“Lebanon Debate” learned that the meeting held in the office of Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri, which brought him together with Prime Minister Nawaf Salam and Defense Minister Michel Mansi, was not without tension, and was unable to end the existing dispute between the two parties or reach a settlement that would contain its repercussions.
According to the information, President Berri informed the representatives of the Free Patriotic Movement, when they asked to allow the Minister of Defense to enter the General Assembly hall and deliver his speech, that he had communicated with the army leadership before the meeting. He also tried to persuade the Prime Minister to allow the Minister of Defense to deliver his speech before the representatives.
However, according to the data, the Prime Minister insisted on his position of refusing to allow the Minister of Defense to speak before the general assembly, which prevented finding a way out of the dispute.
In light of the Prime Minister’s adherence to his position, the “Free Patriotic Movement” took a decision to withdraw from the legislative session, in protest against not allowing the Minister of Defense to attend and give his speech, before the “Loyalty to the Resistance” bloc joined him, which in turn withdrew from the hall.
