The decision includes the 2026-2027, 2027-2028 and 2028-2029 seasons, after converting the temporary hosting rights that the Saudi Federation obtained in December 2023 into confirmed rights.
The AFC explained that its selection came after Saudi Arabia’s organizational and public success in hosting the finals of the 2024-2025 and 2025-2026 seasons.
The final stage will be held in a group format, with the Kingdom hosting the elimination round matches leading to the final match and determining the continent’s champion.
Al-Ahly Saudi Arabia won the last two editions of the tournament, after defeating Kawasaki Frontale of Japan with two unanswered goals in the final of the 2024-2025 season, before retaining the title the following season by defeating Machida Zelvia of Japan with a goal during extra time.
