Barak faces the truth: Lebanese boldness and an Israeli concern!

Salah Salam wrote in “Major General”: The American delegate, Tom Barak, returned some hope to the Lebanese political scene when he expressed his optimism about the step taken by the Lebanese government by approving the principle of limiting weapons in the hands of the state. This step, as important, is not enough alone unless Israel meets it with a similar step.

The Lebanese position came decisive, as the three presidents informed him of Barrak: Washington must bear its full responsibility, and presses its ally Israel to actually commit to stopping violations and stopping the raids that transform the south into an open square for continuous violation.
The double standards practiced by the international community are exposed. Lebanon is required to disarm Hizbullah, and to devote the authority to the state, while it is left to Israel to get off and overwhelm its atmosphere and borders without any accountability. The next few days will reveal whether the optimism that Barak expressed is just a diplomatic talk of media consumption, or if it reflects an actual American will to curb.
Israel and forcing it to respect international law. Lebanon made its first step boldly, and Israel must stop its arrogance and implement its obligations. Otherwise, stability will remain hostage to Israeli aggression, and the absence of international will to confront it.
