Infantino said, in a message addressed to the “Atlas Lions,” that the team’s journey in the tournament was “full of beautiful moments,” stressing that it succeeded in bringing great joy to the hearts of the Moroccan fans passionate about football.
He added that the Moroccan team scored 10 goals during the current edition, which is its highest scoring tally in the history of its participation in the World Cup, which contributed to making it the first African team to reach the quarter-finals in two different versions of the World Cup.
The FIFA President also expressed his happiness at hosting the Moroccan delegation during the tournament, saying: “As always, it was our pleasure to welcome you, and we look forward to your warm hospitality for the tournament in 2030.”
The Moroccan national team had bid farewell to the 2026 World Cup, which was hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico, in the quarter-finals after a journey that saw it qualify from the group stage and then pass the Round of 32 and Round of 16.
Morocco will host the 2030 World Cup finals in partnership with Spain and Portugal.
