The “Jbeil Electricity Concession” Company announced in a statement that, as a result of the circular issued by the Ministry of the Interior and Municipalities, the Governor of Mount Lebanon on June 8, 2026, related to the issue of extending fiber optic cables on electricity poles, in violation of the Communications Law, and also in violation of the electricity laws, it also infringes on private and public property, exposes the public to the risk of death, and obstructs the work of maintaining the electrical network, so that the Internet has become “like spider webs” on electrical poles in an incredible way,” considering that this in itself A “crime” punishable by law.

The company appealed to the mayor and mayors to take the necessary measures to preserve the public interest and public safety, noting that “the mayor and municipalities must inform all Internet distributors to remove them immediately.”

She added: “Despite repeated warnings and alerts for more than 4 months, some cooperated and began removing them significantly, such as within the municipalities of Hosrayel, Amchit, Edde, Halat, etc., while others were “indifferent.”

She pointed out that “one of the Internet distributors went too far with his infringements on the electrical network and considered it exclusive to him, and he traded in that and gave himself the exclusive status of distribution on the Jbeil electricity network, which created great confusion towards others, and accordingly:

First: The Jbeil Electricity Concession will begin removing all violations and all these extensions.

Second: All those who have begun removing their cables, we will cooperate with them to expedite them within a few calculated, documented and programmed days.

Third: All those who have not taken the initiative to remove their cables after more than four months of continuous and repeated reports, we will pursue them legally and the removal of their cables will be programmed to begin with in accordance with the approved procedures.

Fourth: On the other hand, we call and repeat our prayer and appeal to the Ministry of Communications to put its hand over the Internet distribution sector within the jurisdiction of Byblos, as this is within its authority, and it is not permissible to leave matters in this chaos and infringements on the public domain.

In its statement, the company appealed to the Minister of Communications, “to give the issue “urgent status” to address and provide this service to citizens in a proper manner. This is a full responsibility that falls on the ministry to deter this chaos, especially since we have provided your ministry with all the violators with copies of the arrest reports issued against them.”

The company addressed the Minister of Communications by saying: “Your Excellency, this is an exceptional situation that requires an exceptional decision from Your Excellency, and even if the matter requires submitting it to the Council of Ministers for its decision and correcting matters in the Jbeil district, especially the coastal region.”

The company hoped “everyone would respond in the public interest.”
