Barcelona President Joan Laporta revealed the club’s moves in the summer transfer market, confirming the imminent signing of Karim Adeyemi from Borussia Dortmund, and Rafinha’s continuation with the team.

Barcelona has concluded one deal so far, including Anthony Gordon from Newcastle last June.

Laporta said, in statements published by AS newspaper: “We are very excited about Adeyemi, as he is a fast and dangerous player. Deco succeeded in managing the file brilliantly, and the timing was right.”

He stressed Rafinha’s stay, saying: “We have no intention of allowing him to leave. He is a key player, and joining Gordon and Adeyemi to strengthen the attack does not mean abandoning him,” despite his admission that the player was not at his best during the decisive moments of last season.

Regarding Barcelona’s interest in Julian Alvarez, Laporta confirmed that he had made a big offer to Atletico Madrid, but made it clear that it would not remain open indefinitely.

He added: “We will not be lenient and we will impose our conditions. I explained the offer to the Atletico president after there was some confusion, but there has been no progress since then,” and he also described Alvarez’s goal with Argentina against Switzerland in the World Cup quarter-finals as “wonderful.”

Regarding Paris Saint-Germain’s interest in Ferran Torres, Laporta said that the club had not received any official offer, stressing his happiness for the player to continue.

He also praised the performance of Lamine Yamal, Pedri, Dani Olmo and Pau Cobarsi with Spain, considering that Pedri’s sitting on the bench is linked to managing his minutes of participation.

Regarding Lionel Messi, he said: “He is presenting an exceptional tournament, and his talent is constantly appearing. Argentina is a cohesive team and plays for them, and they decide matches in their favour.”
