Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto said that his country’s economic advancement must start from villages and local areas before extending to cities, ensuring that the movement of money remains within communities and enhancing citizens’ benefit from growth.
During a speech he delivered at a celebration of the 79th National Day of Cooperative Societies in Jakarta, Subianto explained that the government seeks to improve the conditions of farmers, fishermen and workers, stressing that economic development must include various groups.
He pointed out that government reports show an improvement in the standard of living of some farmers, pointing out that their ability to travel and benefit from the fruits of growth represents a positive indicator.
The Indonesian President stressed that his government is working to address previous economic imbalances that led to the concentration of wealth in specific areas, with the aim of making the benefits of growth more widespread among citizens.
Subianto stressed that the government is not opposed to the role of large companies, explaining that the Indonesian economy needs the contribution of all sectors, including cooperatives, small and medium enterprises, the private sector, state-owned enterprises and regions.
