Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office said that the latter agreed with US President Donald Trump, during a phone call Thursday, to continue coordination between the two sides on various fronts.

A statement issued by Netanyahu’s office said, “Within the framework of ongoing communications between Netanyahu and Trump, another conversation took place during which coordination between the two countries was strengthened in various fields,” adding that Trump briefed Netanyahu on “American movements in the Gulf.”

According to the statement, the Israeli Prime Minister stressed, during the conversation with the American President, the necessity of maintaining a security zone along the Israeli borders with Lebanon, Syria, and the Gaza Strip.

This comes as the United States renewed its strikes on Iran on Thursday, which responded by targeting countries in the region.

The American bombing resulted in the death of 17 people and the injury of 93 others in Iran since the renewal of hostilities the previous day, despite the memorandum of understanding concluded between the two parties to stop the conflict, according to the latest figures issued by the Ministry of Health.

These developments weaken the truce, which Trump considered “over,” while he directed his anger at the Iranian leaders, describing them as “sick people” with whom he no longer wanted to “deal,” while at the same time keeping the door open for his team of negotiators to continue the talks.

Trump wrote on social media, above a photo he posted showing what appeared to be the bombing of a site in Iran: “This is retaliation for the strikes launched by Iran against ships yesterday. If this happens again, it will get much worse!”

Washington accused the Iranian army of launching raids, on Tuesday, on at least three ships in the Strait of Hormuz, in which navigation traffic has slowed significantly since then, according to data from the Kpler maritime traffic tracking platform.

American military officials said that about 90 Iranian military targets were targeted in the recent strikes, including air defense systems and storage sites for missiles and drones.

On the other hand, Iran accused the United States of targeting civilian infrastructure, including bridges and the railway line linking Tehran to Mashhad in the northeast of the country.

The strikes also targeted the “surroundings” of the nuclear power plant in Bushehr Governorate, southern Iran, which had previously been targeted during the war, according to an Iranian official.
