Before the whistle at the end of the first half, a goalless draw (0-0) imposed itself on the confrontation between Morocco and France, in the quarter-finals of the 2026 World Cup, in a half that witnessed a clear offensive advantage for the French team and a remarkable brilliance for Moroccan goalkeeper Yassine Bounou.

The French team entered the match strongly, threatening Morocco’s goal early in the fourth minute with a powerful shot from Kylian Mbappe from outside the penalty area, but Bono blocked it steadily. The French pressure continued through possession and the exchange of passes, searching for a gap in the Moroccan defense, while the “Atlas Lions” made limited attempts, most notably a long ball from Ibrahim Diaz towards Achraf Hakimi in the ninth minute, but it went outside the field.

In the 13th minute, the Moroccan defense blocked a dangerous cross from Lucas Digne, before Ousmane Dembélé wasted another opportunity for France in the 18th minute, after he converted a cross from Desiree Doui with a header that passed to the left post.

The referee awarded a penalty kick to France in the 28th minute, but Yassine Bounou continued his brilliance and blocked it brilliantly, depriving the “Roosters” of opening the scoring and maintaining the tie.

The match was stopped a minute later for a water break, before the French team returned to impose its advantage, as Desiree Dowie penetrated the penalty area in the 35th minute and shot a powerful ball towards the left corner, but Bono was waiting for her.

Although the percentage of possession was equal between the two teams at 50% for each until the 39th minute, the offensive advantage was in favor of France, which scored six shots compared to the absence of any attempts on goal by Morocco.

The referee counted five minutes of stoppage time, and France almost snatched the lead in the second minute of stoppage time, after Lucas Digne fired a missile shot from outside the penalty area that hit the crossbar.
