The Syndicate of Restaurant and Park Owners in Beirut and Mount Lebanon announced its rejection of what was announced under the name “Framework Agreement,” considering that it constitutes an extremely dangerous step that affects the essence of national sovereignty, and opens the door to the establishment of political and security facts that conflict with the rights of Lebanon, and with the sacrifices that were made in defense of land and dignity.

The union said, in a statement, that the tourism sector and the restaurants and parks sector cannot flourish in a country whose sovereignty is diminished, nor can they achieve real economic stability in light of agreements that give Israel political gains that it is unable to achieve by military force.

The union stated that true security begins with preserving national dignity, while real investment is based on a free and independent homeland, not on settlements that detract from its rights or legitimize the occupation.

The union considered that any agreement that does not clearly and explicitly stipulate complete and unconditional withdrawal from all occupied Lebanese territories, stop all attacks and violations, release prisoners, secure the return of the displaced to their towns and villages, and obligate Israel to pay compensation for the damages caused by its aggression, does not meet the minimum national rights, and does not achieve the justice that Lebanon and its people deserve.

She believed that attempts to circumvent the elements of national power and make concessions under the heading of settlements will only encourage Israel to continue its attacks and impose its conditions, stressing that experience has proven that what it was unable to impose through war and aggression will not gain legitimacy through political agreements.

The union, based on its national responsibility, announced its categorical rejection of this agreement, calling on the national, union and economic forces to adhere to national constants, defend Lebanon’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, and not allow the passage of any project that detracts from its rights or harms the right of its people to resist the occupation and defend their homeland, according to what was stated in the statement.

At the conclusion of its statement, the union addressed a tribute of respect and honor to the martyrs and wounded, and to everyone who steadfastly faced the aggression, stressing that Lebanon’s sovereignty is not subject to compromise, and that the will of its people will remain stronger than attempts to impose dictates and guardianship.
