John McGinn scored the only goal of the match in the 28th minute, after he followed a ball into the penalty area and shot it with his left foot to the top of the middle of the goal, after a close attempt by Che Adams was blocked by the goalkeeper.
The match started at a fast pace from both sides, as Haiti tried early through Louisius Didson in the fifth minute, with a shot from outside the penalty area that went outside the goal. Scotland responded with a dangerous opportunity in the seventh minute through Scott McTominay, who headed over the goal, before the same player returned and scored the right post in the 17th minute with a shot from inside the penalty area.
After McGinn’s goal, Haiti tried to return to the match, and had more than one opportunity, most notably in the 34th minute through Robin Providence, whose attempt from inside the area was blocked by the goalkeeper, then with a shot from Jean Bellegarde in the 42nd minute that went over the goal. The first half ended with Scotland leading by an unanswered goal.
In the second half, Haiti continued its attempts in search of an equalizer, while Scotland sought to maintain its lead. The first minutes witnessed a yellow card for Aaron Heike in the 46th minute, then intermittent pressure from both sides, with corner kicks and attempts that did not succeed in changing the result.
Haiti made a substitution in the 61st minute, with Jozy Casimir replacing Luisius Didson, before later substituting Pliny Joseph for Wilson Isidore, then Yassine Fortuné for Robin Providence. On the other hand, the Scotland national team made several substitutions, including the entry of Ryan Christie, Lyndon Dykes and Nathan Patterson, then Findlay Curtis and Kenny McClean.
In the final minutes, Haiti intensified its pressure, as Jozy Casimir wasted an opportunity in the 79th minute with a shot from outside the area that passed close to the goal, then Frantzdi Piero missed a header in the 85th minute. In stoppage time, Scotland blocked a dangerous attempt by Piero in the 90th + 4th minute, before Martin Experience wasted a final chance with a high and long shot in the 90th + 7th minute.
Overtime saw two yellow cards for Scotland, received by Findley Curtis in the 90th + 1 minute, and Kenny McClean in the 90th + 5th minute, before the referee blew the final whistle, with Scotland winning 1-0.
