According to a report by the “Android Police” website, which specializes in technology, this feature is currently available exclusively on Galaxy S26 series phones that run the One UI 9 beta version.
The stable version of One UI 9 is expected to arrive on Galaxy S26 phones during the summer of 2026, and will later be gradually rolled out to the rest of the devices via updates.
The update also includes a new option that allows you to activate or disable the “Ongoing Chip” feature, which controls the way indicators for ongoing activities such as calls, audio recording, timer, etc. are displayed.
As for the network speed indicator, it displays download and upload data in real time for both the phone connection and the Wi-Fi network, which helps the user know the reason for the slowness of applications or videos, and determine whether the problem is from the network or from the service itself.
The system also supports automatic switching between Kbps, Mbps, and Gbps measurement units depending on the connection speed.
With the exception of Samsung, Google’s Pixel phones are among the most prominent devices that do not provide this indicator by default, although it can be added via external applications. However, integrating it directly into the system provides an easier and smoother user experience, which makes this move from Samsung a noticeable practical improvement. (Arabic)
