Former President of the Progressive Socialist Party, Walid Jumblatt, sparked widespread interaction after a brief post that he attached to a symbolic image of a man drowning among books and manuscripts, in a scene that suggests deep contemplation amid the accumulation of events and challenges.

Jumblatt wrote on the “X” platform: “Southern Lebanon does not need more missiles or drones to defend it, because the son of the south is stronger and more effective in defending his land.”

The publication came in light of the continuing military escalation on the southern front, where the political message intersects with the image that embodies a researcher or thinker surrounded by books and knowledge, in a sign that followers read as a call to wisdom and calm thinking in the face of rapid developments.

Jumblatt’s position carries a clear message that the strength of the South lies in its people and their ability to withstand and defend their land, away from the logic of military escalation and weapons accumulation, at a time when the region is witnessing one of its most sensitive stages in years.

Jumblatt’s words come in conjunction with the escalation of the regional confrontation and the widening of tension between Israel and Iran, amid fears of the repercussions of any additional escalation on the Lebanese arena.
