Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Ismail Baghaei confirmed that the ceasefire in Lebanon constitutes an integral part of any agreement aimed at ending the war.
During his weekly press conference, Baghaei said that for eighty years, the region has witnessed a continuous war against its countries with American support.
He stressed that the continuation of what he described as sea piracy and attacks on Iranian maritime navigation represents a violation of the ceasefire, stressing that the Iranian diplomatic apparatus is carefully following developments, and that Tehran will take what it deems necessary to defend its sovereignty.
Regarding the ongoing negotiations, Baghaei explained that the talks are taking place in an atmosphere of deep suspicion, and that the two parties are still exchanging messages.
He added that negotiations are not based on trust between the parties, considering that the other party constantly changing its positions contributes to prolonging the negotiation process.
