Google announced a new update to the policies for using its smart assistant Gemini, after a wave of criticism from users who faced faster-than-expected restrictions when using the service.
This amendment comes after the company recently moved to a new system that relies on computer use instead of the traditional number of messages.
The new system that Google has adopted in Gemini is based on a different idea than previous restrictions. Instead of counting each message equally, each request is now evaluated based on several factors, including the complexity of the question or task, the tools used within Gemini, and the length and context of the conversation.
In this way, simple requests consume fewer resources, while complex tasks such as programming or video creation lead to greater consumption of the user’s available quota.
The company explained that the new system has caused some users to reach usage limits unexpectedly quickly, especially when dealing with heavy tasks such as deep searching or generating multimedia content.
In direct response, Google announced several changes, most notably setting a consumption ceiling for each individual request to prevent the balance from running out quickly, not counting failed orders within the user’s allotted quota, and providing a lighter model without deducting the balance in some cases.
Also, the company confirmed that it is working to improve the usage control panel to provide clearer details about resource consumption.
Among the new updates, Google also began providing more accurate alerts to users about their consumption, in addition to a monitoring panel that displays the remaining percentage of usage during specific time periods extending up to 5 hours before re-updating.
Also, the company indicated that it will provide a system that allows the purchase of additional AI credits when needed; This gives users greater flexibility in dealing with heavy tasks. (Erm News)
