Minister of Education and Higher Education Rima Karami continued her participation in the International Conference of Ministers of Education held in London, where she held a series of meetings with a number of international partners, including representatives of Microsoft and the World Bank, to discuss issues of educational cooperation and support for the educational sector in Lebanon.

Karami participated in a panel discussion entitled “Prioritizing Education Reform to Achieve Greater Impact,” during which she presented the experience of the Ministry of Education, its reform plans, and the projects it is working on in light of the challenges facing the Lebanese educational sector.

The “Friends of Lebanon” inter-party parliamentary group in the British Parliament also met and discussed with them the reality of education in Lebanon and ways to support educational institutions in the next stage.

As part of her meetings, the Minister also participated in a dialogue and question-and-answer session with members of the Lebanese community in the United Kingdom, which was held at the Lebanese Embassy in London.

Karami’s participation in the international conference comes at a time when the Lebanese educational sector is facing accumulated challenges as a result of the economic crisis, financial pressures, and the repercussions of the security situation, in addition to the ongoing internal discussions about official exams, curriculum reform, and support for public schools and the Lebanese University.
