Slot’s work has come under the microscope in recent weeks, although he said last Thursday before the defeat to Aston Villa that he was planning for next season with the club’s owners.
Slott said in statements following the loss to Aston Villa: “It is not about me, but about our disappointment with the result… I spoke yesterday about this matter (his future) and that is enough.”
He added, “Our focus is on the Brentford match (early next week in the final round of the league) and making sure we gain the support of the fans by starting the match strong and in a good way.”
He continued, “The combined support of the fans and good performance will lead us to what we want to achieve, which is qualifying for the Champions League.”
Aston Villa scored four goals yesterday, but could have scored more after breaking through Liverpool’s defence, and Slott admits this is a major concern and has been for some time.
He said, “We conceded a lot of goals this season, which is difficult to believe unless you see it for yourself. This is what happened to us and led to our loss with that result. Aston Villa was the better team and the match got out of our control.”
He continued, “It’s not about me or how frustrated I am. Rather, it’s frustrating for everyone, for the players, the technical staff, and certainly the fans. In football, Dominik Soboslai can slip in Aston Villa’s second goal, but this is very unfortunate. We know what she has to do next week.” (Russia Today)
