Sinner has now surpassed Novak Djokovic’s record and is now looking forward to more achievements. Djokovic remains the only one to have won all nine Masters titles, a feat that Sinner could equal if he goes ahead to lift the trophy on home soil in Rome.
“I’m not playing for records, I’m just playing to write my own history. At the same time, it means a lot to me, but I’ll be facing another opponent. We’ll be playing in different conditions – it will be an evening match,” Sinner said.
He added: “My top priority now is trying to recover physically as much as possible. We will see how things go. It takes a lot from the emotional side of the game here at home. At the same time, there is no loss for me anyway, and today was a good day.”
Sinner awaits the winner of the confrontation between former world number one Daniil Medvedev and young Spaniard Martin Landalusi, which will take place later today. (Erm News)
