Ivorian Ibrahim Diabaté scored the only goal of the match in the first minute of stoppage time in the first half, giving Alaves 3 valuable points in their struggle for survival.
The match came one round after Barcelona defeated Real Madrid 2-0 in El Clásico, a result that sealed the league title.
Alaves raised its score to 40 points, climbing to 15th place and leaving the relegation zone, while Barcelona’s score stopped at 91 points, suffering its fifth defeat this season.
