The “WhatsApp” application is developing a new feature to integrate channels into the list of conversations, so that users can access them directly through the “Chats” tab through a custom filter, which makes it easier to navigate between personal chats and channel content.

Although the feature is still under development, it aims to improve the user experience and make it smoother when it is officially launched.

Currently, channels and status updates are displayed under the “Updates” tab, where users can follow channels, browse their posts, and discover new content across various categories.

As for the upcoming update, WhatsApp intends to move the channels to the “Chats” tab, while providing a special filter that allows them to be displayed separately, giving users faster and more organized access to the channels’ content.

On the other hand, individual conversations and groups will remain separate from channels, keeping the messaging interface as it is, without any change to the usual usage mechanism.

With this modification, the “Updates” tab will be dedicated to displaying statuses only, and the channels will disappear from it permanently after the feature is approved.

After completing the testing phases, WhatsApp is expected to gradually introduce this feature to a group of users of the trial version, in preparation for its later rollout, which will facilitate managing channels and following them directly from within the “Chats” tab.
