Al-Ahly demands Hani Abu Rida to apologize after Oscar Ruiz’s statements

Officials within Al-Ahly Club demanded that the President of the Egyptian Football Association, Hani Abu Raida, provide a sincere apology to all Egyptian fans, especially fans of Al-Ahly Club.

A reliable source within the club reported that the head of the referees’ committee in the Egyptian Federation, the Colombian Oscar Ruiz, said in a television interview on the “On Sport” channel that the Federation did not ask him to bring in foreign referees to manage the summit match between the Al-Ahly and Zamalek teams in the past football season.

It is noteworthy that Al-Ahly club refused to go to Cairo Stadium on March 11, 2025, to play the return match against Zamalek in the Egyptian Premier League championship, as an expression of its strong objection to the non-approval of its request to appoint a foreign arbitration team to manage that important match.

The source said: “Al-Ahly knew that there was a conspiracy against it in the match against Zamalek because of its failure to implement its request to bring in foreign referees and appoint Mahmoud Bassiouni and requested a postponement.”

The source added: “Abu Raida is required to apologize after misleading the fans and public opinion and putting Al-Ahly in the role of withdrawing.”

The source also confirmed: “Al-Ahly won the Egyptian League title last season on the field and not by the ruling of the International Sports Court.”

It should be noted that the Board of Directors of Al-Ahly Club, headed by Mahmoud Al-Khatib, has called for an urgent meeting the day after tomorrow, Wednesday, to discuss the statements made by Oscar Ruiz.
