Aoun and Al-Sudani: Contact about developments and close support

Amid the difficult humanitarian conditions that Lebanon is going through as a result of the recent escalations, the President of the Republic, General Joseph Aoun, received a phone call from the Iraqi Prime Minister, Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani, in which he expressed Iraq’s full solidarity with Lebanon at this critical stage.

Al-Sudani offered his sincere condolences for the death of the victims of the “Israeli attacks on Lebanon,” especially those who lost their lives “last Wednesday,” stressing that Iraq strongly condemns these attacks and stands with all its capabilities alongside Lebanon and its people in the face of the current difficulties. He also renewed Baghdad’s support “for the decisions taken by the President of the Republic and the Lebanese government to extend state sovereignty and enhance security and stability throughout the Lebanese territory.”

In a gesture that reflects actual support, the Iraqi Prime Minister informed “President Aoun” of his government’s decision to provide immediate aid to Lebanon, including “fuel, food and relief materials,” with the aim of alleviating the burdens on the Lebanese in light of these difficult times.

In turn, President Aoun expressed his gratitude to his Iraqi counterpart for this kind initiative and his sincere condolences, praising the expected aid that embodies the strength of fraternal ties between the Lebanese and Iraqi peoples, and wished Iraq continued prosperity and stability.

It is noteworthy that this call comes in the midst of increasing Arab solidarity with Lebanon, in light of the security escalation and deteriorating humanitarian conditions, as initiatives race to provide aid and support, at a time when the country faces increasing economic and security challenges.
