Argentine coach Diego Simeone ignored the controversy surrounding Atletico Madrid’s victory over Barcelona in the Champions League, and focused his attention on his team’s next match against Sevilla in the Spanish League on Saturday.
Barcelona had submitted a “complaint to the European Football Association (UEFA)” following its loss to Atletico Madrid by two clean goals in the first leg of the quarter-finals, which witnessed objections to some refereeing decisions.
Simeone commented on this complaint, saying: “I respect everyone. We are in Madrid and are accustomed to such situations, and they do not bother us at all.”
Regarding the confrontation with Seville, he explained that the situation of the Andalusian team is “much deeper,” and stressed that he has a special appreciation for the club because it represents an important station in his career.
At the end of his statements, Simeone stressed the importance of this match, indicating that his team aspires to achieve a good result and end the season in the best possible way.
