The Lebanese-Israeli negotiations being conducted under American auspices in Washington are on the verge of turning into practical steps, as Prime Minister Nawaf Salam prepares to travel to the United States. During this tour, the Prime Minister is expected to meet US Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
On the other hand, Hezbollah expressed its rejection of this path, and moved its supporters in different areas of the capital, sending multiple messages to the Prime Minister. These moves are closely linked to the general political situation, and to the official trend towards separating the Lebanese and Iranian tracks in the negotiations expected next Tuesday in Washington.
Writer and political analyst Ali Hamada believes that the street protests organized by the party’s fans are not new, but this time the party seeks to escalate the protests and raise the state of alert internally.
Analyst Hamada L. confirms that, regardless of current events, President Nawaf Salam enjoys wide popularity, and it is difficult to besiege him, especially since he enjoys great support for his positions.
Hamadeh stresses that legitimacy stands with the Prime Minister, while Hezbollah lives in a state of isolation. Even its fans are isolated as well, despite their taking to the streets in an attempt to target the Prime Minister.
Regarding the timing of the movements in the street, Hamadeh believes that the party is seeking to inflame the situation before President Salam leaves for the United States to meet with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and before the first round of direct negotiations with Israel, which will take place regardless of the party’s movements in Beirut.
